EcoTech is built around relationships. Your identity tells EcoTech who you are. Your relationships help EcoTech understand how you are connected to: Businesses Organisations Enterprises Roles Permissions Documents Industries Programmes and other participants across the ecosystem. My ERTs, Relationships & Affiliations gives you a way to understand those connections. What Are My ERTs? Your ERT relationships represent the trusted connections between you and the people, businesses or organisations you interact with inside EcoTech. The idea is not simply to collect contacts. The goal is to establish meaningful relationships that EcoTech can understand. For example: You → Business Owner You → Employee You → Enterprise Operator You → Publisher You → Partner You → Organisation Member You → Document Recipient Each relationship can mean something different. Your Identity Stays the Same You may participate in many different parts of EcoTech. But you remain one person. That means the model is: One Person → One EcoTech Identity → Multiple Relationships You should not need to create a new personal identity every time you join another business or organisation. EcoTech connects those roles back to your existing identity. What Is an Affiliation? An affiliation describes a meaningful connection between you and another participant or organisation. For example, you may be affiliated with: A business you own A company you work for An association A professional organisation An institution A programme or another recognised EcoTech participant. Affiliation does not automatically mean ownership or full authority. It simply records that a legitimate relationship exists. Relationship Does Not Always Mean Authority This distinction is important. You may be connected to a business without being authorised to operate every part of it. For example, someone may be: An employee but not authorised to issue invoices. A consultant but not authorised to manage the Enterprise. A Publisher but not authorised to access Finance documents. EcoTech therefore separates: Relationship from Permission and Authority Roles Give Relationships Meaning A relationship becomes more useful when EcoTech understands the role involved. For example: Person → Business → Owner Person → Business → Employee Person → Enterprise → Finance Manager Person → Organisation → Representative The role helps EcoTech understand the nature of the connection. Permissions Define What You Can Do A role may then connect to specific permissions. These permissions may determine whether you can: Edit a Business Profile Manage the E-Store Create CloudFeed activity Use QI Access Documents View Shared With Me Publish Enter an Enterprise Control Room or perform other EcoTech actions. This helps EcoTech avoid giving every connected person the same level of access. Affiliations Can Be Public or Operational Some relationships may be useful publicly. For example, a Business Profile may show that a person is connected to an organisation. Other relationships may exist mainly for operating purposes. For example, a Finance role may be important for permissions but not necessarily something that needs to be displayed publicly. EcoTech can therefore treat relationships according to their purpose. Relationships and Business Trust Relationships become especially important after business validation. Business Trust helps EcoTech establish that: The business exists and The person has authority to act for it Once that foundation is established, additional relationships can be built around the trusted business. Relationships and Enterprise The Enterprise Control Room depends heavily on relationships. An Enterprise may contain: Owners Directors Employees Departments Branches Managers External advisers and other authorised participants. EcoTech needs to understand who belongs where. That is why relationships, roles and permissions become increasingly important as an organisation grows. Relationships and Documents Documents also rely on relationships. A document may be shared because: You work with the sender You are a customer You belong to the same organisation You have a specific role or You were individually granted access The relationship helps EcoTech understand why that document is available to you. Relationships and Echo Echo can also benefit from trusted relationships. For example, if Echo understands that: You are authorised to operate Business A but You are only an adviser to Business B then the system can treat those contexts differently. This helps intelligence follow authority. Relationships Across the Ecosystem Your relationships can extend beyond individual businesses. You may also participate through: Industries Countries Associations Partnerships Programmes or wider EcoTech initiatives. These affiliations help EcoTech understand where you participate and how your activity fits into the broader ecosystem.
